Seven Day Dating & Relationship Plan
Navigating the confusing world of dating can sometimes seem like paddling a canoe with only one oar. Like anything else in life dating can be mastered when careful thought and technique is applied. We make plans for other areas of life, why not a seven day dating and relationship plan?
Day 1: Live the Life You Wish You Had
- Get out of the house. No one wants to date Mr. Boring who comes home from work, plops in front of the sofa and tunes out. Think about people you admire and do your best to imitate their habits. Always had an interest in sports? Join a co-ed sports team. It's a great way to meet people, get in shape and participate in life.
Day 2: Must Love Pets
- If you're a little shy there is no better excuse to spark up a conversation with a stranger than to comment on their adorable little pooch. Pets are a wonderful icebreaker and open up your world in ways you'll be eternally thankful for.
Day 3: Learn to Dance.
- This may sound scary for those of you with two left feet, but with a little effort and patience it can be easier than it looks. Community colleges, recreation centers and city groups often hold beginner's dance lessons for little or no charge and the best part is..you don't need a partner. The classes are structured so that partners change constantly, eliminating the fear of people coming solo and they often host after-hours events for you to practice your swanky new moves.
Day 4: Cherish Your Friends.
- And you thought dating was all about you and that special someone, wrong. Dating begins as you engage in life and the best way to begin is by valuing the people already in your life. Make a weekly commitment to meet up with a buddy and do something social. Who knows who you may meet along the way.
Day 5: Talk to Everyone.
- Dating is a numbers game and you my friend have to play the field. Practice your flirting techniques on the lady who serves you your triple latte or the man collecting your morning toll. It's completely harmless, enhances your likability and will probably make someone's day. No harm in that, right?
Day 6: Spruce Up
- No, you don't have to run out and buy a whole new wardrobe but a nice hair cut and clean clothes never hurt anyone. Remember, we make split decisions about potential mates within the first thirty seconds of a meeting, so make those moments count. Iron your clothes, put on lovely cologne and above all smile.
Day 7: Ask Someone Out
- Today's the big day. You're confident, well-dressed and just all-around likable. Find that special someone and casually ask what their weekend plans are. An invitation to meet for coffee is usually a good bet and let's you both get to know each other casually with no pressure. As you learn more about each other dinner, a walk in the park or a picnic are great relationship builders.
